Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, attended high school and college in southeast Georgia, and moved to Washington State in 2013. Full-time, Shawna serves as the Dean of Employee Learning and Development/eLearning at Pierce College. Before Pierce, she was a tenured business faculty member and business department chair at Highline College. Shawna holds a doctor of education (EdD) degree in Educational and Organizational Learning and Leadership from Seattle University, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Journalism from Augusta State University. With over 10 years of higher education teaching experience and professional development leadership, Shawna is dedicated to supporting student success through innovative, engaging, and inclusive practices. In her free time, Shawna enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and watching science fiction, and spending quality time with her husband and their three young children.
