Introduction
Stan Emert is the founding director of the Sports Enterprise Management program at the Milgard School of Business, University of Washington (Tacoma). He is also the Director of Special Projects. He is in his 17th year as an instructor at UW where he has taught classes on management, international business, business strategy and negotiations. He is in his 7th year at the Tacoma campus.
In 2020, he worked with Thomas Kuljam to create Students Assisting Business, a program at the Milgard School to help local businesses and students during COVID.
Emert is a private sector business veteran. He consults to a company centered on a new method to recycle waste tires and plastics. He started the Corporate Social Responsibility group at Symetra Financial and led the company to regional and national awards in sustainability.
He has spoken on business social responsibility before the World Bank, the US Chamber of Commerce, the American Film Institute, and to many other significant audiences around the US.
