I completed my English PhD in 2014 at UW Seattle and English MA at Western Washington University in 2009. I am a scholar of science fiction and popular culture. For my graduate dissertation, I considered how science fiction imagines the future of prisons and punishment. I've also written and presented on bodily autonomy in young adult fiction, labor unions in SF, and teaching feminist SF. Past courses I've taught include cyborgs and future humans, fandom studies, dystopias, warrior women, gender and sexuality in SF, and working-class American literature.
