Sylvia Kantor is a part-time editor and designer with The Puget Sound Institute at UW-Tacoma. She is also a freelance science writer who covers forest ecology and natural resource management for the US Forest Service Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain Research stations. She has also been the administrator and communications manager for the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, and previously was an agriculture science writer, research associate, and extension educator at Washington State University. She is a member of the National Association of Science Writers (NASW) and the Northwest Science Writers Association (NSWA). She has a master’s in natural resource planning from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s in anthropology from the University of California Berkeley. Sylvia lives in Seattle.
